The Center for Constitutionalism and Human Rights at the European Humanities University, in partnership with the “University Without Borders” project, the Belarusian Human Rights House, and the International Law in Advocacy (ILIA) partnership, will hold a scientific and practical conference titled “Lawyers for the Rule of Law: Strengthening the Impact of Education on Justice. Restoring the Right to Defense in New Realities, and the Right to Association of Human Rights Lawyers” on April 4-6, 2023.

This conference is the second event where experts from the Center for Constitutionalism and the ILIA international partnership, as well as lawyers, discuss issues related to the content of the new instrument (convention) of the Council of Europe on the profession of lawyer with its developers.

The conference also aims to deepen understanding of issues related to the creation and functioning of a new type of professional associations for independent lawyers, lawyers, and human rights lawyers. Issues related to the continuation of the professional activities of lawyers beyond the usual legal frameworks and national jurisdictions will also be considered. Scientific staff, university students, as well as representatives of government organizations, international and national professional associations of lawyers will participate in the discussions and debates aimed at restoring the role of the rule of law principle in Belarus and the region.

The conference will be held in online and offline formats.
