On March 11-15 the EHU Vis Moot Team (Vera Belchykava – in-person, Yuliya Andryievich and Serafima Haiduk – online, Maryia Zharylouskaya as a coach) took part in the Central Asia Vis Pre-Moot 2022 in Nur-Sultan, Kazakhstan.
The Vis Moot is an internationally renowned law student mock arbitration hearing competition. It aims to promote the study of international commercial law and arbitration for resolution of international business disputes through its application of a «real-life» practical legal problem and to develop future lawyers in arbitration practice.
During 5 days in the AIFC Court and International Arbitration Centre the EHU Team was able to:
– have multiple pleadings with other teams from different jurisdictions;
– interact with arbitrators from different professional, cultural and legal backgrounds;
– practice and improve their professional skills;
– refine and adjust their oral arguments before participating in the virtual Vis Moot 2022 of Vienna.
On behalf of the EHU Vis Moot Team, we would like to express our gratitude to Astana International Financial Centre (AIFC), International Arbitration Centre (IAC), the U. S. Department of Commerce and Commercial Law Development Program (CLDP) for organizing and supporting us in the Central Asian Vis Pre-Moot and for this unique and useful event, which made it possible to feel the spirit of offline meetings.
